Steps for Applying for Financial Aid

 Step 1: FAFSA [ https://fafsa.ed.gov/](https://fafsa.ed.gov/) Deadline: No real deadline, earlier the better because the colleges and Youniversal pull from this information

You could receive

  • Pell Grant - based on financial need
  • Loans - must pay back when no longer attending school
  • Workstudy - work on college campus

You could receive:

  • AR Challenge Scholarship
    You must make a 19 on the ACT in order to qualify for the AR Challenge Scholarship
  • AR Futures Grant – Based on your college major and where you attend
  • AR Governor’s Distinguished Scholarship - 32 ACT 3.5 GPA
Senior Year Timeline

THERE ARE MULTIPLE SCHOLARSHIP DEADLINES THAT ARE COLLEGE-SPECIFIC

September -  Apply to at least one college

  • Request transcript to be sent to your college - Write it down on the clipboard hanging outside the door. I will write the date that it is sent beside your name.

October - College Application Month; FAFSA opens up to apply for Financial Aid

November - Expect communication from the college

December - The last real chance for you to take the ACT for scholarship purposes.

June 1 - Deadline to apply for AR Academic Challenge Scholarship
