Concurrent Enrollment
Get College Credit in High School
A student may enroll in college courses to be taken during the high school day.
Requirements:
- 10th, 11th or 12th grade student
- Qualifying test score (ACT or Accuplacer)
- ACT – see national test dates. Accuplacer – given at MHS for free.
- Pre-requisite for specific course
CONCURRENT CREDIT
(Handbook page 49) Students in ninth through twelfth grades who successfully complete a college course or courses from an institution approved by the Arkansas Department of Education shall be given credit toward high school grades and graduation at the rate of one (1) high school credit for each three (3) semester hours of college credit. The concurrent credit shall be applied toward the student’s graduation requirements as an elective unless the student has gotten the principal’s approval prior to enrollment in the course.
Credit for concurrent credit courses will not be given until grades are received by Marshall High School; students are responsible for having the grades sent to the school.
Other Info
Arkansas Tech University– Courses and instructors provided by Virtual Arkansas. Deadline is in March. These classes fill up extremely quickly, especially Public Speaking. The cost is $25 plus books.

North Arkansas College
Students may also take college classes through North Arkansas College as concurrent students. They may take any class offered through Northark. The cost is $50 per credit hour + books.
